I don’t know which editing service I might need. Can you still help me?
Of course! Simply send me an email with a short excerpt from your manuscript alongside an explanation of your worries, and I will evaluate your manuscript for the type of editing that would be most suited to you.
Which genres do you edit?
I edit the following fiction genres: YA · Fantasy · Sci-Fi · Dystopian · Horror · Thrillers · Mysteries · Romance (including dark romance and all spice levels) · Non-fiction (health & wellness)
Do you use AI while performing any of your work?
No, absolutely not. Your manuscript will not be shared with, or processed through, any AI tools. All editing work is 100% completed by me, a human.
Do you provide contracts?
Yes! Once you are happy to proceed with editing, I will send over an editorial contract for you to sign. This ensures clarity around scope, timelines, payment terms, and confidentiality for both parties.
Do you provide style sheets?
Yes! I provide comprehensive style sheets that outline the exact style guide used to edit your manuscript, spelling/grammar conventions used, characters, settings, unusual words/phrases, and chapter-by-chapter summaries. A lot of authors find this invaluable.
Which style guide do you use?
I use The Chicago Manual of Style for US writing, and The Oxford Guide to Style for UK writing.
Do you offer a sample edit?
Yes! For all projects, I offer a free 500-word sample edit. This allows you to see my approach and for me to evaluate if we are a good fit before committing to a full project. Requesting a sample edit puts you under no obligation to purchase a full project.
What is your turnaround time?
This largely depends on the project and the services you require. My typical turnaround time for line editing a 70k-word manuscript is around 3–4 weeks. Once I’ve reviewed your sample, I will provide a clear timeline. Projects are scheduled in advance, so early booking is recommended.
Will you change my voice?
No. My role is to strengthen clarity, coherence, and impact while preserving your authorial voice. All edits are made using tracked changes so you retain full control.
Do you guarantee publication or good reviews?
No editor can guarantee publication or reviews. My role is to help you present the strongest possible version of your manuscript. Final publishing decisions remain with agents, publishers, or the market.
How do payments work?
A 50% non-refundable deposit secures your booking. The remaining balance is due upon completion or can be spread over 3 or 6 months if you choose a payment plan. All payment terms are confirmed before work begins.
I have a tight deadline, is this okay?
This largely depends on the project. If you are working to a tight deadline, please explain this via the Contact me page. I will always do my best to schedule every project on a timeline that suits you.
